Homes are the largest urban water users in California, consuming more than 2.2 trillion gallons of water each year—enough water to fill 26,000 Rose Bowl stadiums. Toilets and clothes washers are water guzzlers. These products alone account for almost half of your home’s indoor water use. Saving water means saving on your water bill. Toilets and clothes washers combined can save over $2,000 on water and energy bills over the products’ lifetime.
SoCal Water$mart offers rebates for single-family residential customers of participating water agencies for indoor products such as High-Efficiency Toilets and High-Efficiency Clothes Washers. These rebates start at $50 for qualifying High-Efficiency Toilets and $100 for qualifying High-Efficiency Clothes Washers.
What about landscape? I’m glad you asked. Landscape accounts for 70% of a residential home’s total water use. The SoCal Water$mart Program offers rebates on water-efficient outdoor landscape devices such as Weather-Based Irrigation Controllers, Rotating Nozzles with Pressure Regulating Devices and Synthetic Turf to help you save water on your landscape.
Rebates for outdoor products start at $80 per qualifying controller, $4 per nozzle (must be installed with a qualifying pressure-regulating device), and $0.60 per square foot for synthetic turf. Note: Synthetic Turf rebates are not available in all areas of southern California. Please check www.bewaterwise.com to find out if your water agency provides synthetic turf rebates.
